Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s political leadership is a new phenomenon. The objective of the paper is to understand the genesis of AOC’s political leadership by holding together the different aspects of its success, namely digital nativism, female and intersectional leadership, the functioning of its political machine. At the same time, it aims to connect the AOC case to the specific aspects of the American political system, namely its specific populist/progressive tradition and the functioning of large party-network.
