Abstract

The implementation of quota policies in federal educational institutions increased the heterogeneity of socioeconomic status of students. The objective of this study is to analyze whether the academic performance of the most economically and socially vulnerable students is inferior to the others. The academic performance of students of integrated courses was analyzed using descriptive statistics and machine learning techniques. In the first one, the students were classified as qutota and non-quota students and the results showed that the performance of both is similar. The machine learning analysis found socioeconomics situations where students tend to have a lower performance compared to other students. The obtained rules in this analysis can justify closer pedagogical monitoring for students who fit into them, preventing evasion and improving the performance of these students.
