Proiectarea şi organizarea clădirilor de bibliotecă.

Nowadays, modern libraries are places of learning, research, and leisure, which is reflected in the way library buildings are designed, both newly built and those whose existing designs are modified. At the same time, the interior must meet a number of common features, reading rooms and other similar spaces being increasingly sought after, as well as spaces for debates, book launches, reading workshops and book clubs. Thus, the architect Faulkner-Brown formulated ten general recommendations that can be adopted by any library and adapted according to the specifics of each: flexibility, compact character, accessibility, possibility to expand, variety, organization, comfort, constant environment, safety and economy. In the design of the library building it is advisable to consider the existence of several types of spaces (for users, for library staff, for library collections) and also attention should be paid equally to all areas of the library, from the entrance to the document storage spaces (access area, library services, catalogue access area, reading rooms, warehouses, special rooms). In the future, libraries, as well as other cultural institutions, could have new roles, especially in cities.
