Abstract

The objective was to identify and analyze the renal complications associated with SARS-Cov-2 infection in intensive care patients. This is an integrative literature review, carried out in the databases VHL Regional Portal, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF) and PubMed/Medline. The searches covered the period from 2019 to 2022 and the languages Portuguese, English and Spanish. Data were obtained from databases, from which 42 articles were selected that addressed the topic. The results showed that kidney disease is associated with several comorbidities. Age and hypertension were associated with these comorbidities and significance in Covid-19 positive patients. In addition, people over 70 and with hypertension, diabetes, COPD or CKD were more likely to die from the disease compared with patients who did not. From the above, it is possible to conclude that discussing kidney changes in intensive care patients in times of a pandemic encourages us to develop and reflect on methods to promote health, both in the prevention and in critical care of the disease, with an emphasis on this risk group.
