This article intends to analyze the cultural and political role of emotions according to the trajectory of Santa Catarina Derlei Catarina de Luca during the period when Brazil came under military rule. In this way, the importance of memory and its reports as fundamental sources for historical analysis, as well as, the way in which gender relations were part of this social context. In addition, it reflects on the "emotional turn" and how emotions such as fear, pain and love can influence the freedom and movement of bodies. As a documentary source, the book written by Derlei Catarina de Luca is used, which describes his trajectory as a militant during the period of the civil-military dictatorship. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
