Abstract

Zehra Tasdemir Yasin follows with an article that argues that contemporary anti-systemic movements take on a historically distinctive significance because their resistance confronts global capitalism, particularly at loci where capitalism's "second contradiction" plays out. They propose systemic alternatives that center climate justice demilitarization through social movements rooted in decolonization, Indigenous resurgence, abolition, and justice-centric ecological securities that ensure collective wellbeing for humans and other-than-humans. This special issue of I Perspectives on Global Development and Technology i presents articles written for the conference "Earth Crisis and the Global Environmental Movement", which took place August 9-13, 2022.
