The Royal Decree 1055/2022 establishes the minimum requirements for extended producer responsibility in the management of packaging waste, in compliance with Directive (EU) 2018/851. Existing waste management systems must adapt to this law within one year. The objective is to adapt Spanish packaging regulations to the new extended producer responsibility regime established by the European Union, promoting prevention, reuse, recycling, and recovery of packaging waste.
