La eficacia de la belleza: El papel de los elementos figurados en la argumentación platónica.

This paper defends that literary resources or figurative are part of the Platonic argumentation and therefore not only fulfill an ornamental role. In the development of the thesis proposed, it is examined the ways in which the literal and the figurative are brought together in Fedro and in some passages of La Republica showing how blurry this distinction could be. Sometimes, the literary seems to only illustrate a philosophical proposal and in other occasions it is shown as the only way to express it. The arguments built around these options are inscribed in a broader discussion regarding the role of such resources in the philosophical writing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
