Abstract
- The article discusses John Berger's views on Pablo Picasso's transition into communism and its impact on his artistic practice. It mentions that Berger believed that Picasso's commitment to the Communist Party led to the exhaustion and decline of his painting, and Berger, a proponent of social realism, saw Picasso's earlier British realism as a response to post-war conditions but found his later cubist and abstract works lacking social content.
