Abstract
- A: Listening to music, no matter the genre, may help pharmacists have more meaningful interactions with and understanding of patients. A music assignment to develop pharmacy students' empathy toward people with opioid use disorder. Anyone who enjoys music may have a personal, subjective reason, but science suggests that music has the universal capabilities of creating trust, encouraging empathy, and relieving stress, which extends to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy students.12 Expressing empathy could mean having the capacity to understand the patient's feelings, perspective, or situation.2 Empathy affects patients' mental health and medical adherence.
