Abstract

In this paper, the aim is to present a literature review of Post-Keynesian thinking that contributes to the understanding of the dynamics of the labor market in capitalist economies. First, brief considerations are introduced about Labor Economics, labor market, general concepts of economics and the understanding of the dynamics of supply and demand in the labor market. Subsequently, the Keynesian view and its main contributions to the analysis of the labor market are presented; this is the link to the relations with the formation of Post-Keynesian theory. The Post-Keynesian theory, the focus of this article, brings together authors who, dissatisfied with the developments in Macroeconomics, return to Keynes' work to reinforce the author's interpretation at the same time it joins efforts to improve and update the theory in order to develop a body of its own formulations. It is concluded that the Post-Keynesian authors assume the existence of involuntary unemployment as a macroeconomic problem arising from the functioning of the capitalist economy. They also assume that the flexibilization of wages does not result in an increase in employment, but may bring greater uncertainty to the capitalist calculation. Therefore, they propose the active role of the State to prevent the economy from taking its contradictions to unsustainable levels of unemployment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
