Abstract

Today, increasing energy costs bring the efficient use of energy to the agenda in the textile sector as well as in all sectors. The use of renewable energy sources in the production process will continue to occupy an important place in energy production as it is an inexhaustible and domestic energy source with low cost values compared to traditional fuels. Solar energy maintains its importance as the most preferred renewable energy source for domestic and industrial use due to its high potential. In this study, grid-connected and off-grid photovoltaic system designs were carried out using the HOMER Pro program in order to meet the electricity needs of a textile factory located in Bursa Demirtaş Organized Industrial District (DOID). As a result of the study, it was decided that the off-grid photovoltaic system was the most suitable system for the factory, and the net present cost of the system to be installed was determined as 2,625,139,000 TL ($ 151,654,477.2) and the simple payback period was determined as 14.04 years).
