Abstract

Although the constant advancement of knowledge, globalization, and the pursuit of quality in higher education have allowed university management to identify current gaps to meet the demands of stakeholders, there are still poorly researched aspects that could ensure quality in university organizations. The aim of this article is to describe the perception of the teaching and learning process by the students involved during the nursing specialization at a private university in Cusco. This research, which is quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional in nature, included a sample of 81 licensed male and female nurses who were administered the questionnaire called "Perception of the Teaching-Learning Process". The results of the study showed high reliability, with a Cronbach's Alpha of .9.45. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test, on the other hand, reported (Sig. 000, P <.05), indicating that the variables and dimensions did not assume a normal distribution. Contingency tables, descriptive statistics, and the Kruskal-Wallis statistic were used to describe the results and test hypotheses. The results suggest that students in the second nursing specialty at the University of Cusco perceived both the teachinglearning process and the organizational dimension as having a low level. In conclusion, university organizations must align with the contexts and demands of globalization of higher education to redesign and redefine educational processes in search of quality. It is important to note that this research contributes to identifying key aspects that university organizations should consider in the continuous improvement of the quality of teaching and learning in the nursing specialty.
