The diagnosis and treatment of middle ear and temporal bone diseases through the external auditory canal by ear endoscopic surgery has been recognized by more and more physicians for its minimally invasive nature and better hearing reconstruction effect. In this paper, we discussed the clinical indications and future directions of ear endoscopic surgery, taking into account the latest literatures on endoscopic ear surgery research and the author’s experience of using endoscopic techniques to manage some rare cases of the ear.
