Abstract
- The article discusses the role of the US Army's 90th Infantry Division when combat elements of the five Army divisions assaulted German defenses in Nazi-occupied Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944. Infantry Division became one of the top Army infantry divisions in northwest Europe and was nominated for the Presidential Unit Citation for its assault crossing of the Moselle River in France in November 1944. The division's legacy is carried on by the US Army Reserve's 90th Sustainment Brigade.
