Abstract
- In order to study complete and incomplete fusion, the excitation functions for several residues produced in the Nb and Nb systems have been measured, employing activation and offline -ray spectrometric technique. The measured excitation functions have been compared with those calculated theoretically using the statistical model code PACE4. A significant enhancement in the measured excitation functions of the evaporation residues produced in -particle(s) emission channels over the PACE4 predictions have been observed, which indicates the occurrence of incomplete fusion reaction process. The relative probability of incomplete fusion in fusion dynamics, obtained in terms of incomplete fusion strength function has also been deduced for both systems. In the present work an attempt has been made to have an exclusive study on aforementioned entrance channel parameters on C, and O induced reactions with various target systems. The is found to depend strongly on Coulomb factor and mass asymmetry of interacting partners. It is observed that proper account of these entrance channel parameters is much essential to conclusively explain the incomplete fusion reactions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
