Abstract

Aerodynamic shaped truck and tractor body can improve the fuel economy by using external devices like boat tails, side skirts, and roof fairings over the cab, rear flaps and under flow carriages. This paper was focused on reduction of drag force on trucks for different aerodynamic shapes. The truck geometry was design in CATIA V5 R20 and simulation using ANSYS–CFX software. The flow around the truck was studied and investigated external drag reduction devices. The flow field analysis was performed for different velocities on each model. The result shows good agreement between wind tunnel and simulation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
