Abstract

This article analyzes Brazilian banks from the perspectives of narrative defenders from the current model and of those who defend deep and structural changes, based on the premise of the article by Wanderbroock (2018) who studied the Statements of Added Value - DVA, with the finality of making public the social responsibility of organizations, which was made into a mandatory Law 11,638/2007 where companies are accountable to society. This study analyzed the convergences and divergences in the distribution of value in the 500 largest companies listed on the BM&FBOVESPA, separating them into two groups, production companies, and banks. The comparison showed that there are significant convergences between companies of the same groups/sectors and significant divergences between the productive sectors and the banks, where it was found that companies in the financial sector are the ones that most concentrate wealth, that is, they distribute more wealth to shareholders than companies in the productive sector. This article is a descriptive-qualitative research with discourse analysis, presenting the different views about Brazilian banks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
