Abstract

The article reveals that Allina Health System, a nonprofit which runs hospitals and clinics in Minnesota and Wisconsin, rejects or cuts patients who are in debt, according to an investigation. It informs about Allina's avoidance of state, local and federal taxes under U.S. federal law. It shows the inability of doctors to provide continuous care to poor patients who qualify for Medicaid and eligible for free care under Allina's own financial assistance policy.
