Abstract

Irritant contact dermatitis is the most common form of both contact dermatitis and occupational skin disease. The diagnosis of irritant dermatitis is often difficult, given the lack of confirmatory testing, and it is usually diagnosed confidently only after allergic contact dermatitis has been excluded with patch-testing. Early recognition, prevention and treatment are the mainstays of management, particularly when it is work-related. This article provides a comprehensive summary of the disease, clinical presentations and management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
