Abstract
- The article examines the suppressed polemic in an unpublished poem in 17th-century royalist poet Thomas Stanley's Cambridge poetic manuscript indicating that he was not removed from polemical verse. Topics include Stanley's lack of participation in contemporary polemic in Great Britain, an indication that the untitled elegy from his manuscript may have been written for Henry, Lord Hastings, after his death in 1649, and an authoritative analysis of Stanley's poetry by Galbraith Crump.
