Abstract

The article reveals how Greece failed the migrant ship Adriana, which capsized and sank off the coast of Greece and killing more than 600 migrants, by performing a law enforcement operation and not a rescue. Details are provided about the sailing of the Adriana to Italy by smugglers, absence of food and drinking water as the ship lost its way, refusal of Greek authorities to mount rescue despite distress calls, and capsizing of Adriana after the Greek Coast Guard vessel 90 arrived at the scene.
