Abstract

The article focuses on the role of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in activating olfactory receptor 78 (Olfr78) and its involvement in the carotid body's response to hypoxia. It mentions the study shows that H2S induces persulfidation of Olfr78, leading to impaired carotid body activation, glomus cell responses, and breathing responses to H2S and hypoxia in mutant mice.
