Abstract

This article aims to observe the intersections and compatibility with Catholicism and what the Vatican called in 1989 "eastern methods", psychosomatic techniques "inspired by Hindu and Buddhism", such as "the Zen, Transcendental Meditation, or Yoga", considering two empirical cases investigated ethnographically in Brazil: the modality of Christian Yoga created by the Jesuit priest Haroldo J. Rahm and the Christian Meditation created by the Canadian Benedictine John Main. In view of this, a question that is imposed is to understand how such compatibilizations are made. Making the treatment of traditions of such methods, they can plan the execution of cases between the two cases and Catholicism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
