¿La comunicación no determina? Análisis de la investigación sobre comunicación en los determinantes sociales de la salud.

Introduction: Despite the rise of the Health Communication discipline, there are still niches within it where scientific contributions are scarce. This is the case of communication in the field of Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), although the magnitude of this scarcity that the literature talks about remains to be determined. Objective: Overcome intuitive statements and measure the presence of communication and media issues in the research of the main authors on SDoH. Methodology: An analysis was carried out in the two scientific databases commonly used as reference for indexing and attribution of scientific impact factor: Web of Science and Scopus. Results: Only 3% of the 679 manuscripts indexed in Scopus by the 10 most published authors on SDoH made any reference to communication and/or media issues. This figure was 5.2% of 384, in the case of Web of Science. Conclusion: The limited presence of communication in the SDoH is ratified and quantified. Likewise, the authors who have addressed the subject most frequently are identified, with a view to subsequent qualitative analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
