External financing for development represents a complex area of the global agenda that encompasses political, economic, geopolitical and financial aspects. Over time, international actors and financing instruments have multiplied and become more complex. For this reason, and considering the implications of the matter for South America, the objective of this article is to inquire about the operations of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) in the region, since it is an organization insufficiently analyzed by the discipline of International Relations.
