Abstract
- The article reports that in 2004, two international meetings dealt with seeds, that is the 9th International Symposium on Plant Seeds: Seeds in the -omics Era and the 3rd International Symposium on Plant Dormancy: From Molecular Level to the Whole Plant, jointly with the workshop 'The Molecular Aspects of Seed Dormancy and Germination.' Following the complicated developmental pathway to maturation and the period of imposed or true dormancy of varying depth, seeds acquire the ability to germinate and develop seedlings. Some disconnected data characterize other families of transcription factors. The characteristic pattern of expressed proteins is seen as the final result of genome realization in the particular organism under specific conditions.
