Abstract

In this study, we investigated the touch trigger probe radius compensation of CMMs using the multi-cross-product method. This method determines the four normal vectors of the compensatedpoint using the cross-product of the vectors deduced from the probe centre of the compensated point and its four nearest points, respectively. Weighting factors were employed to correct the error and to obtain the final direction of the normal vectors of the compensated point. The simulation results were compared with theoretical results to identify the error in this method. The error analysis shows that this method can yield more precise prediction values.
