Abstract

This article presents the top hardware products for 2005. The OQO Ultra Portable computer is a full-blown Windows XP machine in the form factor of a personal digital assistant (PDA). Ravels lighter and fits in users' pocket or purse. For easy typing and cursor control, it has a complete, pull-out thumb keyboard, with TrackStik and mouse buttons as well as digital pen and thumbwheel. For those who hated to choose between the bulk of a laptop and the limited capability of a PDA--now users can have it all. The Nokia 9300 cellular telephone has flip-open footprint and wider screen for working on big documents and spreadsheets. It has 80 megabytes of memory. The 9300 nicely bridges the consumer and the office worlds with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. But all this comes at a formidable price: $770. The Hewlett-Packard iPAQ h6315 Pocket personal computer does. More standard in its format, it can go tramping anywhere there is a T-Mobile network. And it is the first handheld to combine calling, Internet and wireless fidelity all in one. Comfort and geekery collide in the Bluebroc's C-Station. This minimalist sofa comes in 12 colors, cloth and leather, with a computer sticking out of the side. Prices start from a mere $3,814 for the cloth single-seater to a hefty $5,340 for the C2 leather model.
