Abstract
- Examines the historical moment when Max Weber's methodological and political liberalism was forcefully challenged by the critical theory of Georg Lukacs and the political existentialism of Carl Schmitt soon after the sociologist's death in the early 1920s. Exploration on how Lukacs and Schmitt come to terms with their teacher's most important thesis, modernity as a process of increasing `disenchantment' and `rationalization'; Information on Weber, Lukacs and Schmitt.
