Abstract

The article reports that the schedule shows that there were 145 more games for the New York Yankees to play at the start of their game against the Toronto Blue Jays in Toronto. The Yankees were not in jeopardy of falling out of the American League East division race, being eliminated from playoff contention, and costing Joe Torre his job as the manager as a result of their early season troubles. But because each Yankee game is a season unto itself, and with such high expectations enveloping this team, it already appears as if they are in crisis. And when George SteinBrenner issued a headline screaming "Enough Is Enough" edict after the Yankees lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, resulting in a three-game series sweep at Camden Yards, he officially announced that the Bronx Zoo, a name affixed to the Yankees two decades ago, was opened for business.
