Abstract

The virtual platform CHA for educators is a social technology to support educators in the expansion of knowledge and development of skills and attitudes in health to face the social and educational changes due to COVID-19. This paper presents quali-quantitative analyses of a sample population of basic education educators in Brazil, consulted by the project for validation. The pilot study was conducted by means of an electronic questionnaire distributed on social media for one month to active basic education teachers. Of these, 83 answered the entire questionnaire, 75% are women with an average age of 41.3 years, with more than 15 years of teaching; 59% belong to the risk group and work in public education; 52.6% were bereaved, and 43% have difficulty with digital media. Educators (85%) reported being stressed and afraid. Most indicated working more than 12 hours/day (75%), but identified that student attendance in remote classes was low. The content analysis of the speeches written in the diagnostic questionnaire revealed two categories, Teacher Health and Teaching-Learning, and 14 subcategories (07 for each) related to the impacts of the pandemic on the educator's health directly influencing their praxis and the quality of the teaching-learning process. The results showed the need for a space of care for the teacher's health and for professional qualification and exchange among them to improve the teaching-learning process in times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
