Images of masculinity are usually sexualized. Especially younger men with little experience align their sexual practice with the corresponding clichés and expectations. But what are the requirements that are being conveyed? At least among young men, traditional notions of masculinity seem to have been largely overcome, echoing more than inspiring or providing guidance. In an empirical study examining the relationship between masculinity, sexuality, and porn use, „controlled“ masculinity emerged as significant. 32 interviews were conducted with postadolescent men (18- to 25-year-olds) and flanking interviews were conducted with 17 women of the same age (Winter, 2022).
