Abstract

The article presents information on the estimation of short-term excess deaths caused by tropical cyclones in the United States over a 32-year period. Using an ensemble of Bayesian models and death registration data, the study reveals the varying impact of different tropical cyclones on mortality, highlighting Hurricane Katrina in 2005 as the deadliest. The research also explores how excess mortality after tropical cyclones is influenced by factors such as social vulnerability.
