A tracer study of compatibility between graduate competencies, and field of work.

This study aims to find out the compatibility between the competence of graduates and their field of work. In this study, the researchers applied a qualitative approach. The methods employed in this study consisted of literature review, surveys, and focus group discussions with a quantitative approach. The objects of this study were graduates of the Master's Program in Higher Education Management, the Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University. Results indicate that alumni feel confident to be able to manage various fields of work in higher education institutions using the knowledge gained through lectures during studying at the Master's Program in Higher Education Management. In general, all lecture materials support the respondents' work as administrators in higher education institutions. Moreover, the outputs of their learning process are used by the institution concerned as material for improvement. Therefore, there is a match between the competence of graduates and the abilities needed in their field of work. This study found that respondents tend to get career advancement during and after studying at the Master's Program in Higher Education Management, the Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University.
