This paper examines fake news in the electoral context through a behavioral approach. It discusses the relationship between fake news and democracy, the behavioral and structural factors that explain the spread of fake news in the internet and also the strategies to face them properly. Finally, it tackles the adopted measures against fake news in the Brazilian law, notably in the electoral norms, debating their effectiveness considering the previous behavioral analysis.
