The global prevalence of metabolic dysfunction – associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is as high as 25% - 30%. MAFLD is closely associated with the morbidity and mortality of liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, extrahepatic malig- nancies, diabetes mellitus, and cardiovascular diseases, resulting in substantial burden of diseases. Lifestyle interventions using diet and exercise to achieve weight loss remains a first – line therapy in patients with MAFLD.
