DESIGN OF A FEEDBACK PREDISTORTION LINEAR POWER AMPLIFIER.

A new feedback predistortion linearizing method is proposed and analyzed. This method extracts the third-order intermodulation distortion (IMD) signal from the main power amplifier (PA) output signal and the original input signal and uses it as the predistortion signal. The improvement in linearity is analyzed quantitatively. To validate the proposed method, a PA using a Motorola MHL9838 device is fabricated. Two-tone tests are performed, where the IM3 is improved by approximately 5 dBm and 12 dBm with an output signal of 30 dBm per tone. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
