Abstract

Brandzel was deeply committed to the theory, praxis, and formation of feminist and queer studies. To address racial disparities in birth outcomes and medical racism among healthcare providers, the authors collaborated with local organizers to also reconceptualize feminist methods and pedagogical practices. In 2006 Amy became one of the first graduates of the Feminist Studies doctoral program at the University of Minnesota. Feminist and LGBT activists working for NGOs in China are frequently involved in larger social movements for justice, working to advance the rights of socially marginalized groups in the nation.
