Abstract

We aim to identify the relationship between belongingness, internalized homonegativity, and depression among LGBQ members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (CJCLDS). Three hundred and eight sexual minority current and former CJCLDS members were recruited using convenience sampling to complete an online survey. CJCLDS belongingness alone was health-protective for current members of the CJCLDS. Internalized homonegativity did not moderate this relationship. Belongingness in the CJCLDS may be health-protective for sexual minority members of the CJCLDS, whereas LGBQ belongingness had no effect in this sample. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
