Abstract

The teacher is an essential factor in implementing learning and evaluating learning. So, teacher competence absolutely must be owned and developed by a teacher. One of the learning evaluation activities implemented by the government is the National Assessment. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of teachers' abilities in preparing national assessment questions. The research used in this study is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The population in this study were junior high school teachers in Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The sample in this study was 40 junior high school teachers in mathematics studies. The sampling technique used in this study is proportional random sampling. The results of this study indicate that the ability of teachers to prepare national assessment questions is in a good category. It is shown that almost 80% of the teachers who are the sample can compile national assessment questions from the domains of numbers, algebra, geometry and measurement, statistics, and probability.
