Abstract
- In addition, the article highlights that by consciously portraying women lawyers as particularly talented and professionally successful, television shows such as I Onna wa sore wo yurusanai i challenge dominant biased attitudes towards female lawyers in Japan. The article studies Sujata Massey's I Perveen Mistry Investigates i three-part novel series and its lawyer-detective heroine Perveen Mistry, who is based on Cornelia Sorabjee and Mithan Lam, the first female Indian lawyers.
