Abstract

BACKGROUND: Food allergies are on the raise, with a wide suite of clinical presentations that include affectation to the skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal systems. CLINICAL CASE: A 63-year-old male patient, without any relevant clinical background that went to evaluation for secondary hemiglossitis after eating mamey ice cream, being a rare manifestation of a food allergy/food poisoning. CONCLUSIONS: Timely management of hemiglossitis with antihistamines in association with steroids is very useful to limit the extent of damage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
