Sediment maps usually come from analysis of recent data. They are replaced several decades later when a new technique appears. For a world map such an approach is not possible, it is therefore necessary to merge very diverse data. The map presented here, broadcast in free access, is the culmination of 25 years of development. It had been initiated for the search for wrecks, installation of cables and acoustic propagation and finds new applications for the study of CO2 trapping and global warming modeling.
