Abstract
- The paper presents the results of fire tests of steel products with an innovative heat-insulating plate material based on geocement. It has been established that with a heat-insulating plate thickness of 20 mm, the metal surface of an I-beam heated up to a critical temperature of 500 °C in 60 minutes of testing. This indicator provides the fire resistance class of metal structures P60 and groups IIIa and IIIb of the fire retardant efficiency of metal structures. Based on the calculated data according to Eurocode 3, it was found that the critical heating temperature of an I-beam up to 538 °C with a sheet material thickness of 20 mm is achieved during 70-minute fire tests, which is achieved with thicknesses of heat-insulating plates 2 times less than those recommended. The result obtained provides the fire resistance class of the steel column P60 and the III fire resistance group. This effect is possible due to the passage of chemical reactions in the structure of the material with the formation of a porous structure of anhydrous sodium-calcium aluminosilicate phases with forsterite inclusions.
