Abstract

The article discusses the importance of photocatalytic hydrogen production in achieving carbon neutrality and the progress that has been made in this field. It highlights the development of the SrTiO3 and BiVO4 Z-scheme, which has increased the efficiency of solar energy photocatalytic hydrogen production. The article also discusses recent advancements in understanding the charge transfer mechanism in photocatalysts, including the use of surface photovoltage microscopy and time-resolved photoemission electron microscopy. These studies provide valuable insights into the driving force for charge separation in photocatalyst particles. Overall, this research contributes to the development of efficient and industrially scalable photocatalysts for hydrogen production, which is crucial for achieving carbon neutrality.
