Abstract

Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas has designed a minimalist lakeside house in Austria, a departure from his usual megaprojects. The house, created in collaboration with architect Federico Pompignoli, is Koolhaas's first built house in almost three decades. Situated on a narrow plot, the house is partially buried within the hillside and features a narrow tower rising from the street. The structure is characterized by its white concrete exterior and a lustrous finish that resembles fine porcelain. The house offers stunning views of the Alpine landscape and incorporates elements such as a sauna, a stainless-steel kitchen, and a terrace. This project represents a shift in scale and pace for Koolhaas, who is known for his large-scale buildings in big cities. [Extracted from the article]
