Abstract

This article explores the use of artificial intelligence (AI) language models in conducting a post hoc analysis of studies comparing different surgical techniques for parastomal hernia. The researchers utilized an AI-powered chatbot to identify additional studies that may have been missed during a traditional review. However, the analysis revealed that the AI-generated citations were not legitimate and were irrelevant to the original search. This highlights the limitations of relying solely on AI for systematic reviews and emphasizes the importance of human validation. The authors caution against the dissemination of fraudulent information and stress the need for caution and external validation when using AI language models for scientific research.
