Chemical Composition and Antioxidant Activity of the Leaf Essential Oil of Volkameria aculeata.

This article discusses the chemical composition and antioxidant activity of the leaf essential oil of Volkameria aculeata, a plant found in tropical and sub-tropical countries. The study reveals that the essential oil of Volkameria aculeata contains 42 compounds, including diterpenes, sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, fatty acids, and oxygenated sesquiterpenes. The major constituents of the essential oil were phytol, linoleic acid, β-cubebene, hexadecanoic acid, myristicin, and (E)-nerolidol.
