High-power CuBr laser systems excited by bipolar electric power supply.

Abstract

For the first time, an innovative scheme of high-power high-voltage pulsed laser excitation featuring bipolar electric power supply units was applied to energize CuBr vapor lasers. This innovative excitation scheme (capable to deliver up to 8.1 kW of average electric power) resulted in 151 W of average laser output from a single large-volume 10 liter CuBr laser. This is a record-high average output power for CuBr lasers on atomic self-terminating lines λ510.6 nm and λ578.2 nm so far. For the first time, we made and demonstrated the reliable work of a robust compact all-solid-state bipolar pulsed power supply of 1.8 kW average electric power with two symmetrical arms of 0.9 kW each.
